FINE ART and WONDERFUL OBJECTS by SATURDAY TREI
Pyrography
(Fancy Wood Burning)
Pyrography is the art of using super heated hand-tools to create imagry by burning marks onto wood, horn, or leather. It is a slow, hot, and unforgiving process but yields an incomparable organic mark. Burned art has a subtle, tactile relief and shine to it created by the pressure and intense heat. Unlike laser-cut wood art, pyrography is an entirely human, hand-made artistry.
Saturday's work combines pyrographic mark making with painting techniques and precious stones to create one-of-a-kind original art and art objects.
Painting
From realistic illustrations to colorful, emotionally-charged abstract pieces, Saturday's paintings are multidisciplinary works only occasionally housed on flat canvas. Very rarely just acrylic or just watercolor, they shift and transform with reflected light and iridescence. High-realism painting is often combined with less detailed abstraction to create pockets of depth or dimensional illusion.
Sometimes these paintings are huge, and invite the viewer into a world of detail and intentionally confusing visual short-hand. Sometimes they are tiny, on upcycled art toys or incorporated into jewelry.
Serious or silly, they are always made with the eye of the viewer in mind.
Jewelry
Collecting Art is inaccessible to many, so why not enjoy art you can wear?
Notable are the "Treasure Underfoot" series of ooak pendants, featuring real mushrooms and plants collected by the artist and painstakingly gilded before being set in custom resin molds. This is resin turned high-end, like you've never seen it before.
Arcs of wooden twigs set with obsidian cabochons, amber accented with pyrography and gold, feathers reinforced with sterling silver and sapphires... Saturday's jewelry combines traditional jewelry techniques and materials with the unexpected, common, and precious.
